Easy Indian Fry Bread
4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 to 2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 tablespoons shortening

Combine flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl. Stir until evenly blended.

Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs form.

Add enough water to make dough that is consistent with bread dough.

Knead until smooth. Let dough raise for 10-12 minutes then form into a long roll and cut into 10-12 portions.

Pat each portion into a 6 inch circle.

Fry in hot oil (360 degrees) until golden brown, turn over and fry other side until golden brown.
